Kissed by the Baddest Bidder: Eisuke Ichinomiya S3 Proposal Review

Story Basis:
You're in London with Sakiko to attend your friend Chisato's wedding. You take the time to do some sightseeing and come across an antique shop where you spot a ring. You wear it on your left ring finger and can't get it off (not unusual, that happens all the time). The wedding and the ring make you wonder when you'll ever get married (to Eisuke). At Chisato's wedding, you meet an Englishman who flirts with you.

After an unpleasant run-in with some dangerous men, the auction managers come to your rescue. You're surprised to find the Tres Spades has expanded again and this time in London, the place where Eisuke spent most of his younger years with Soryu and Luke. You move in with Eisuke in his private suite on the top floor where you'll start a new and exciting life together.

Your first day working at the hotel, you find out the Tres Spades is ranked #4 on the hotel ranking system of London. Eisuke takes you to observe other hotels when you bump into the man you met at the wedding. Frank Ackerson, a man from Eisuke's past and the owner of the #1 hotel in London. With the rivalry between Eisuke and Frank, he is determined to put his hotel at #1.

Talks about family and marriage come up, you don't want to expect too much from him but you're disappointed when your views of family and marriage are different from Eisuke's. Just when you forgot about it, Eisuke suddenly proposes to you out of the blue?!

In the throws of your confusion about marriage, Frank plots to take everything away from Eisuke. What will Eisuke do? Will you ever get him to understand what family means?

His Personality:
Eisuke is pretty much the same as the previous season, demanding and possessive only he's more aggressive with his affections for you. ~ More sexual if I'm being accurate 😳. He enjoys teasing you because he likes seeing your reaction.

His favourite saying is 'Your job is to satisfy me' ~ I agree with Ota. That sounds so indecent πŸ˜Š. As much as you enjoy being in his embrace, you're still a dedicated employee. When you put work above him he would always 'punish' you, and he's not one to shy from 'putting on a show' in front of others, much to your embarrassment.

He's still awkward (in a cute way) when it comes to being honest about his feelings. ~ From what I gather, he just doesn't want to sound sappy in front of others but he will say them for you to hear only. He injured his arm from protecting you so he had you help him drink his coffee when he could have just used his other arm. It was his way of saying, he wanted you to stay with him.

You learn Eisuke is easily bored and is always trying to find ways to entertain himself. One example of this is when he purposely didn't tell you about the move to London a secret just to see your reaction. He's never bored with you because of your many expressions and constant effort to keep him happy.

He can be a bit petty with jealousy when he thinks someone's 'stealing' or 'claiming' you. This is evident when he refuses to kiss you until you take off the ring you got from the antique store 😜.

Eisuke surprises you with his indifference to the idea of marriage, thinking nothing in his life will change. You're disappointed when he 'proposes' to you with a Marriage Licence saying it's nothing but a piece of paper with no significance (basically a contract) ~ Not very romantic, is he?  His detachment to family and marriage make you question your relationship.

At first, he thinks just saying the words you want to hear will help you decide. ~ But thank god you stopped him. He doesn't realise that just saying 'Will you marry me?' means nothing unless he understands how important it is to be married and what it means to be man and wife. Especially for the MC because to her, it means a big change.

When words don't work, he goes for a more intimate approach after you say you don't know enough of him and he thinks sex is the answer. ~ ... Um, no. Can you keep your pants on for one minute, dude?

Eisuke has always been ambitious and, according to Soryu, very competitive. He won't settle for being anything less than #1 and will do anything to make sure he always comes out on top. And apparently, he practised sewing for hours to get the top grade in sewing class. ~ I can't even imagine πŸ˜‚

*** Be warned for any spoilers ***

Overall Opinion:
Proposal stories are usually favourite to read because they finally make it official by putting a ring on it. I was really excited and had a lot of expectations when this story came out and I was not disappointed. The flow of the story was written really well and quite realistic about the different views of marriage.

The MC's view on marriage is quite common among average people. She's basically like me; marriage is born from the love between two individuals. And it definitely holds more significance than just names written on a piece of paper. I find Eisuke's view on marriage quite a unique and a little sad to be honest.

Eisuke seems very detached with the idea of family and marriage whenever it's brought up. He loves the MC enough to think about marrying her someday. But because of his views, she can't bring herself to accept his proposal even though she's been waiting for it. She starts to question how much does she really know about him and the stage of their relationship.

I like how she doesn't just jump at the offer of his proposal ~ Honestly, even I wouldn't. I love Eisuke but he's got to be more romantic than that πŸ˜’. I also thought it was a good call from Eisuke to tell her to forget about his proposal. This gave him the time to sort his feelings out before proposing to her the right way.

This is a realistic scenario of people making decisions on marriage and not just because they love each other. But can see a future together. No matter how much you love someone, if they don't have the same values as you do about something life-changing as this then there's no point.

In saying that, the main story didn't do just on explaining how Eisuke can jump from 'Marriage is a contract' to genuinely asking the MC 'will you marry me?' in the end. You really have to read his POV to understand his train of thought from the main story.

To put it simply (without spoiling too much)Eisuke warped sense of marriage and family became very clear from his upbringing. He knows family are "People who are connected forever by blood" but he doesn't know how else does it connect them with each other πŸ˜”. He doesn't have the slightest clue what family is like because he got separated from his family at a young age.

In his own interpretation, he doesn't think Akira is his father because they are not related by blood. Akira loves him as his own but Eisuke kept him at a distant for many years because of his own misconception.

He only managed to understand what family truly means when the MC points out they will become a family if they get married. And any children they will have will be his family. That's when he realised how wrong he was to propose to her the way he did.

After sorting out his misconception and finally confronting Akira, Eisuke's got a better understanding of what family means. (Thanks to the MC)

*** To know why Eisuke proposed to you in the first place, you can read it in his POV or you can wait until I post my general review of Eisuke.

The plotting was written fairly well addressing the issue of marriage and proposal. Eisuke and the MC's relationship is more likely to strength after this event now they are on the same page. The proposal story was 'messy' but very Eisuke style right through to the end. I was more focused on the whole marriage issue rather than the Frank plot but it all ties together when you read his POV.

I do recommend this story and his POV for those of you who want to get a clear and better understanding of this complicated character. Happy playing!

Overall score: 7/10

You are welcome to read my review on his overall personality and his character development from my general opinion post. I will also post reviews on his other stories.
