Kissed by the Baddest Bidder: Eisuke Ichinomiya Main Story Review

Story Basis:
After being bought from the auctions, you are to choose between five of the auction sponsors. Eisuke doesn't give you time to choose before he throws you over his shoulder. So now, you are bought by the richest man in Japan (and possibly the whole world) and start to live with him until he figures out what to do with you.

He surprises everyone by making you his girlfriend ~ sorry, fake girlfriend. He's in the middle of closing an important deal with an Italian Mafia Boss, Mr Bucci and his daughter, Carolina is madly in love with him. Eisuke doesn't want to offend Mr Bucci's daughter by turning her down flatly so he decides to use you as his girlfriend to throw her off.

Eisuke says he will set you free as long as you be his 'girlfriend' until the deal with Mr Bucci succeeds. Until then, you are at his beck and call. The days you spend together, you start to realize this cold and bossy rich man is all you can think about and there's more to him than he lets on.

His Personality:
Right from the beginning, Eisuke has been very demanding and cold towards you. He treats you like an object (his property, more accurately) and has little regards to your feelings 😑. He expects you to run to him within 5 minutes after paging you no matter where you are 😰 or what you're working on in the hotel 😡. ~ He's very much a dictator, you would say.

Eisuke can be obnoxious, bossy, cold-hearted and (at times) unreasonable. You think a man who owns the auctions only cares about money and what he can gain, however (as Ota says) "Eisuke never does anything without a good reason". He's the kind of guy who doesn't like to explain himself to anyone so people often misunderstand him as a person. The other guys don't question him because they've known him for a while to know what his personality is like and they go along with him.

His cold and crude responses make you feel like he doesn't value you as a person and it's exactly because he doesn't like to explain his reasons. He also doesn't make it a habit to be honest with his feelings and doesn't like to admit them 😩, and it creates a lot of misunderstanding with you.

He may be cold-hearted but the number one rule of his auctions is to never sell a person without their consent. In your case, you were sold by accident and he bought you so no one would violate the rules. (Explained in his POV, he bought you to save you from being bought by the sleazeball πŸ˜–). He's also not so self-absorb to not notice you. For example; he noticed how your feet hurt from wearing the heels he bought and switched them to lower heels 😳.

As the story goes on, your relationship with Eisuke improves a little and he trusts you enough to tell you a bit about his past and why he started the auctions in the first place.

He later finds you interesting because of the many expressions you make (makes sense because he only has one expression 😐).

***Be warned for any spoilers***

Overall Opinion:
Setting aside his personality, I quite enjoyed his route. The plotting was decent but the last part of the story felt a little out of place. I won't spoil it so I'll only say it came too quickly and ended too quickly. That's not to say the story wasn't enjoyable. There's not much romance in this because it IS just only the start of their relationship but it's not to say there's no romance there.

There were some funny moments with Eisuke and Soryu that made me crack up. I also found it endearing that someone as mean and cold like him has a weakness. He loves animals but they don't like him. Hahaha! πŸ˜‚

KBTBB is the first game I played and Eisuke is the first guy I picked out of the entire Voltage Inc. universe. I've played his route so many times and really liked it. I never actually realized not many people like him because of his personality.

I don't think he's an abusive person because he never physically locked the MC up or restrict her freedom as such. He allows her to work as per usual and let her leave the hotel and go back to her apartment. He's also never emotionally abused her either, he just says some mean things to her.

I personally don't mind him at all.

Yes, there are moments where I feel he's being unreasonable and unfair, and that the MC is a bit of a pushover. The MC goes along with his every demand because he's her boss (a fact she didn't know) and because he bought her. She does as he says until he sets her free. There are times where she's not afraid to voice her opinions against him only to realise she was wrong about his character (just like we are). The MC is a bit of a fighter in a way but she's a bit naive at times. She's also very observant to know how he likes his coffee and that's the turning point of their relationship.

I found it a little clichΓ© of how he became attracted to her. He's a rich guy surrounded by famous wealthy people and the women who surround him are all the same. They want him for his looks and riches. She's different from all the women he's been with ~ she's average ~ that's why he chose her because she's easily disposable (despicable, yes). And what else that makes her different is that she tries to understand him as a person and apologizes when she misunderstands him.

I like how they slipped in a bit of his background to let us know how he grew up. It started to make sense of his personality and from what I gathered, all he wants is to find his family. In a sense, it's possible he feels lonely and just doesn't show it because it makes him feel weak in front of others πŸ˜₯.

I like the concept where he's a typical rich guy and he's never dealt with someone as ordinary as the MC. The more he spends time with her, the more he starts to see her as a person rather than an object. Though he still claims her as his 'belonging' at the end ~ an example of him not being honest with his feelings. He also notices what makes her stand out from all the other women in his life.

I also found it endearing the way he couldn't be honest with the MC and just tell her he prefers her coffee over the room service coffee. The way he goes about it is very awkward when asking her to make him coffee so he always demands her to make it for him. Saying he'd have to put in the milk and sugar himself if he uses room service when he's always been doing that before the MC came along. ~ See? He can't be honest. πŸ˜‚

The ending was pretty decent and I have to say it's definitely Eisuke style. He won't straight up admit his feelings for her but tells her enough about the way he feels for her. The MC is most likely his first love so he doesn't know how to express his love for her so he does it oresama style.

I've read his POV story and his epilogue, and I can say for certain you see a change in him. You see things in his perspective and how he sees the MC. She's everything he isn't that's why he fell in love with her.

She's the first person he's ever chased after so to speak. He's never chased after anyone or think twice about someone he let go. It's always the other way around so I found it a little impressive.

Overall Score: 6/10

I started his route years ago when it was still a standalone app already releasing Season 3. And I can honestly say that after playing his route, I didn't continue investing in him because of the plot but because he looked hot. Guilty!

HOWEVER... I can say as I continue playing his route, his story arc gets better and more interesting. You get to see how much he starts to value the MC's feelings and how far he will go to protect her.

I do recommend his route for those of you into the oresama guys and don't mind his mean streak as a way to hide his real feelings for you. Happy playing!

You are welcome to read my review on his overall personality and his character development from my general opinion post (which I will post at a later date). I will also post reviews on his other stories.  Stay tuned for updates.
