Kissed by the Baddest Bidder: Eisuke Ichinomiya S4 Engagement Cruise Review

Story Basis:
The Tres Spades has turned into a luxury cruise taking their guest across the seas to travel the world.
You embark on a new and fresh journey with your fiancée on a trip around the whole as a pre-wedding honeymoon. In the midst of your romantic getaway with Eisuke, he's accused of murder and is under house arrest.

What will you do to clear him of suspicions?

*** Be warned of any spoilers ***

Overall Opinion:
Usually, I would something about Eisuke's personality but I'm just going to skip that part and go straight into the review.

I have to be honest here - I love Eisuke but I was really disappointed with this season 😔. The plot wasn't very good - in fact - there wasn't a plot at all. It just seemed like a scapegoat to point out the weakness in the MC's relationship with Eisuke.

After what happened in Season 3 where the MC was stepping up to be his equal, you'd think their relationship has improved but this season was like a setback. The story started great with Eisuke spending time with the MC and learning to be more romantic with her. He watches a movie with her and goes along with her practice of Morse Code even though he thinks it's foolish and stupid. At least he's still thoughtful and does things he wouldn't do with anyone but her.

The moment, however, when he gets accused of murder and under house arrest, he pushes the MC away and straight out tells her there's nothing she can do when she's worried sick about him 😟.

The MC can't see him and wants to help him so she tries to raise money to bail him out (but apparently you can't bail someone out when it's a murder and she didn't know that). Baba and Ota suggest she sell something at the auction to raise the money. So she sells a (counterfeit) painting and it doesn't sell, setting the worst record in his auction ever.

Eisuke (sort of) appreciates her efforts but he mostly gets mad at her for doing something 'she shouldn't'. ...Um, she was just trying to help you. Give her some credit 😡.

The rest of the story was just upsetting and heartbreaking. The MC mostly felt useless and a burden beside him and I just think it wasn't fair against her. Eisuke didn't sugarcoat it either and basically thinks she's more work than less whenever there's a problem. It's really frustrating how her promise to become his equal was completely disregarded or completely forgotten at this point.

The auction managers didn't help either, they kept most of the details to themselves and kept her out of the loop. Most of the time they were making a fool out of her when she's really trying her efforts to bail him out and they knew she can't 😡😡.

I also felt Eisuke was ridiculously harsh on the MC for the wrong reasons. He also wasn't being very fair on her, saying she's always causing trouble for herself when really it's his fault. He doesn't tell her squat so she takes matters into her own hands and when it fails he's ridiculous hard on her.

The ending was anti-climatic. It was done rather poorly and really rushed because the centre of the story wasn't to find who's framing him but rather focusing on how 'useless' the MC felt being with Eisuke. In the end, he was cleared of suspicions and she didn't do anything.

So far, I've recommended his previous stories but, honestly, I wouldn't recommend this one 🙅. The plotting is so random with little to no explanation. This is just another point to prove that Eisuke has a lot of enemies who want him dead or have his reputation ruined. At this point, we already know that so this whole season was pointless. I'm glad it quickly went as it came.

This season just didn't fit or flow with his entire route. Basically, a side story you would say. His route would have been a lot better if this season didn't exist because it paints him in the worst light. And maybe the people who hate him were right to hate him.

I like Eisuke but I really didn't enjoy this season so I only read it once - well, twice. The second time for this review. So I wouldn't judge you for skipping this season and just jump ahead to Season 5. You won't be missing much.

*** There is another part to this season called 'Engagement Cruise After Story' and Eisuke is the only character to have it. It completes the mystery where we find out who and why someone framed him for the murder.

Overall score: 2/10

You are welcome to read my review on his overall personality and his character development from my general opinion post.
